Product Process of Corrugated Box

Pulping

Raw materials (often recycled paper or virgin wood fibers) are mixed with water to create a pulpy consistency. This pulp serves as the primary material for creating corrugated paperboard.

Corrugating

The pulp is pressed to form wavy sheets of paper, known as fluting. These waves provide the strength and flexibility that distinguishes corrugated boxes from regular cardboard.

Laminating

The corrugated sheet (fluting) is then bonded between two liner sheets. This forms what we commonly recognize as corrugated cardboard. The adhesive used in this process is usually a starch-based adhesive.

Cutting

The corrugated cardboard sheets are cut to the desired size using large cutting machines. These are designed to handle large volumes of material and maintain precision.

Printing

If the box requires any graphics, logos, or other information, it’s printed onto the cardboard. This is typically done using flexographic or digital printing methods, depending on the volume and detail of the print.

Slotting

Machines create slots in the corrugated sheets to enable them to be folded into box shapes.

Folding and Gluing

The slotted sheets are folded to create a box shape. Glue or adhesive is applied to hold the shape in place.

Die-cutting

For specialized box designs, a die-cut process can be used to cut the corrugated sheets into specific shapes, which can then be folded into unique box designs.

Bundling

Once the boxes are formed, they are often bundled together in groups (often using plastic straps or shrink wrap) to make distribution and storage easier.

Quality Control

Every stage of the production process is monitored to ensure quality. Once the boxes are complete, they undergo a final inspection to ensure they meet the required specifications and standards.
